Grow Plants In Space, Rejuvenate Your Skin On Earth?

Crazy title I know, but bear with me for a moment... Interestingly, the power of LED light energy was first discovered by NASA during the space race in the 1960s. Astronauts needed a way to grow plants without sunlight. Armed only with a little soil, water and LED lights, they grew plants in space. No sunlight or gravity required! This lead NASA to explore how they could put the incredible power of LED lights to use back home. We all know how important sunlight is for our skin, but the downside – UV rays, make sun exposure a tricky balance....

Turn Back The Clock The Natural Way

After the age of 30, our body begins to create less collagen (a protein that maintains your skins firmness and suppleness) with levels dropping by 1-2% each year. As collagen weakens, your skin loses the ability to retain elasticity and wrinkles begin to form. To reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, treatments such as Botox or dermal fillers are looked to in an attempt to stop the ageing process and to add back the fullness to areas that have thinned due to the breakdown of collagen. Are LED and UV light the same?

No, LED lights do not emit UV. Ultra Violet (UV) light is a major risk factor for skin cancer. Excessive sun exposure also causes sunburn, tanning, hyperpigmentation, DNA damage and eye damage. However, in small doses, UV light is beneficial for for maintaining our Vitamin D levels which is essential for absorbing calcium and promoting bone growth.  UV light travels in wavelengths between 10 and 400nm making it invisible to the naked eye. UV light energy penetrates the epidermis or outer layer of the skin only and overexposure causes severe damage. Whereas, LED light has a wavelength between 400 and...

How Often and For How Long Do I Need LED Light Therapy?

How Often and For How Long Do I Need LED Light Therapy?

Like most things, consistency is key. For the best results, treat the targeted area for around 15 minutes each day until you start to see an improvement. Grace and I each have our own personal handheld LED light that we use 4-5 nights a week before going to sleep, depending on our schedule. The reason we use it at night is because we have cleaned our skin and it gives us the opportunity to relax and unwind from our busy day. We spend about 30 minutes working our way around our face, focusing on specific areas of concern and let...
